Sam is on to something. Vision 2020 consists of the people who
participate, and if the whole operation can be lined up as part of another
organization without any input from Vision 2020 members, maybe it's time
for a new organization, Vision 2021.
That said, the "takings" bill is a real threat, and it's appropriate for
members of Vision 2020 to bring it to the attention of other members. And
if a member of Vision 2020 -- not some spammer from far away -- wants to
argue the other side, that would be most appropriate. Actually, I think
that has already happened.

And MoscowSam responds:
Thank you, Don, for responing!
Now that my piece is out on "list procedure", I can state my position on the
"takings" legislation.
I consider it to be a real threat and I mostly (or completely) agree for the
reasons cited on the list previously.
We live in an organized society and trust (at least I hope we still do, to
some degree) in local and state government to do things for us which we
cannot as individuals.
Among those are to protect us and our property (for example, our residences
and neighborhoods) from those who would use theirs in manners offensive to
the nearby majority.
Developers sometimes cite their, or their clients' rights under the U.S.
Constitution and other laws, to do as they choose with their property.
But in a democracy, one also has RESPONSIBILITY to not unduly infringe on
the rights of others, and especially it seems to me, a majority of other
property owners.
Well, volumes have been written describing the negative land uses which have
developed in various parts of the country where entrepreneurial (sp?)
interests have developed land, unfettered, and, about the ensuing costs to
the "public".
The negative outcomes which have been identified from the proposed taking
legislation are scary. So I'm not a mugwump on this one! And besides, we
have to be on our collective guards! Don Coombs say he might become a pig
farmer in a few years!!! (^j^)

Don Coombs
People who support the "takings" bill should be aware that I will be
retiring next fall, and I will have time to start pig farms next to every
supporter's home. Or gravel pits. Whatever.
