On February 17th at 7pm in the Junior High Multi-purpose room the
Board of Trustees will hear public comment on what coursework should be
required to graduate from Moscow High School. The public will speak
directly to the Trustees. On February 24 at McDonalds Elementary during
the regular board meeting the Trustees will adopt new graduation
requirements.
The district committee currently proposes the following requirements.

English - 4 years - 8 credits
Social Studies - 4 years - 8 credits
Math - 2 years - 4 credits
Science - 2 years - 4 credits
Health - 1 semester - 1 credit
Speech - 1 semester - 1 credit
Consumer Economics - 1 semester - 1 credit
PE 2 years - 4 credits

All the above will be part of Core with a 2.0GPA required.

Also required will be 2 credits from a Math/Science strand of electives, 2
credits from a Humanities strands of electives, and 2 credits from a
work/life skills strand of credits.

Discussion has ranged from the above proposal to the need for greater
flexibility in course selection. Some discussion has centered on not
requiring PE, reducing Social Studies to 6 credits by integrating some
coursework, requiring foreign languages, integrating speech into English,
integrating Health into PE, requiring 6 credits in math and 6 credits in
science, and so on.

This is a great chance to make your personal preferences known to all.
Please make plans to attend.
