I endorse this solution. Does anyone object to limiting postings on the list
to members, as long as their as a "guest" provision from the web page?
(Non-members can always send something to a member to be posted, as has
happened occasionally in the past.)

its possible (easily) to restrict open posting on the list only those
that are memebers. While this may seem extreme, when you also allow
a non-member to post using "guest" ONLY from a web page, it is effective
in blocking all (externally generated) spam (those on the list can still
do it, but....). So for non members to post, they have to go to a web
page and type at it, programs (i.e. spammers) have a hard time with that.

till later,

johnt
