So far, two areas of conflict that I see developing in pool design:
1. pool temperature that is conducive to any kind of aerobic workout,
whether that be swim team practice or adult water aerobics, is probably too
cool for swim lessons. How have other pools handled this?
2. any pool depth that is sufficiently shallow for toddlers will be too
shallow for competition. How have other pools handled this?
It may be that these two points will argue for two pools. Is it possible to
have two pools with one of them being 50 meters?
Finally, I recently asked what efforts the committee was doing to gather
data about current pool use compared to past pool use in the community.
Anyone who is really interested in this issue might amble down to the UI
pool around 3:30 p.m. and plan to stay until 7 p.m. observing the variety
of programs offered in that time slot (which is the "community" time slot)
and the congestion. (dress cool) This experience may remind us that an
important component of a new pool which no one has mentioned is adequate
PARKING.
