Until the birth of our daughter nearly nine months ago, I was very
happily employed at Horizon at the Pullman station. I'm very proud of
what we did for so long with so little and under such (weather)
circumstances! I give all due credit to our wonderful boss, station
manager Hillary Kouril, whom some of you may have met. Any blame
belongs on the back of we agents!
Having said that, I'd like to point out a few things:
1) Dash-8s, the 37-passenger planes, from Pullman (PUW) to Boise (BOI)
were NEVER even close to full out of PUW. Believe me, with my parents
in BOI we all traveled non-revenue space-available a LOT between those
two cities, and when the Dash was put onto that route we celebrated.
Always a seat whenever we want! My dad became very familiar with the U
of I golf course!
2) When I say "NEVER," I mean it. Homecoming, Thanksgiving, Christmas,
you name it.
3) The Dash is always packed out of Lewiston (LWS.)
4) We didn't have as much trouble filling the 18-passenger,
everyone's-favorite-airplane Metroliner.
A couple of years ago, Horizon made the wise decision to become a
two-airplane-type fleet, and retired the Metro. So it's not as though
they can put that aircraft back onto the BOI-PUW route.
I am not defending Horizon's decision. I am very disappointed, as are
so many others. However, I thought you all might be interested in what
I know.
Sincerely,
Briana LeClaire
P.S. If you want to know why another airline would never make it in PUW,
write me and I'll tell you all about it. Or post it to everyone. But
the baby needs a bath right now.
