John,

Good Questions! Age, well I imagine that depending on interest, as young
as 2nd or third grade could contribute to some aspect of this.

What kind of publication and how would it be distributed? Well, I was
wondering the same thing. I have wondered if it would work to have the kids
distribute it themselves, and then you get into printing costs, etc.

Any more ideas? I imagine something like this really does best if there is
some brainstorming with several interested parties.

By the way, two of my children were listening to NPR and discussing the oil
spill that was on the news. They started talking about running out of oil
and I asked what they could do, themselves, to help. At first they said
write letters or tell people, which I acknowledged, but kept asking what
they could do, in their own lives. They started talking about riding the
bus and walking more. Maybe if they had more chances to explore their
ability to make a difference, they could really brainstorm! (their ages
are 9 and 8)
