Latahco Planning update

To the contrary of what has been inferred in the Daily News and this
listserv, the County Planning Commission has made some remarkable progress
in designing the new ordinance.

We now have a draft of an ordinance and a zoning map that we are ready to
present to the public for review. They are located at:

http://www.uidaho.edu/~dgeist/Latahco/plan.html

Town meetings for public input have been set for:
Feb. 6 in Potlach
Feb. 11 in Deary
Feb. 12 in Moscow

I'll post the details as soon as we know them. Note that these are not the
final hearings; they are initial feed-back sessions to be moderated by
independent facilitators (my heroes Susan Palmer and Steve Cooke, I
believe). The commission intends to modify the proposal, on the basis of
the feedback we get. Only then will it go to official public hearing.

In the meantime, you can email feedback to me.

I will follow this email with my own views on where we are. I want to
emphasize that now is the time for participation.

Cordially,

Dennis Geist
vice-chair, Latah Planning Commission
