The HIV/AIDS Task Force is inviting the Moscow community to commemorate
the 9th Annual International World AIDS Day on Sunday, December 1 by
displaying luminaries after dark that evening. The Task Force managed to
silk screen 2000 luminary bags with red ribbons for this event. Most of
those will be distributed through various local congregations.
If you would like to have red ribbon luminaries, call me (Susan) at
882-5023.
Although nearly 200 countries participate in commemorating World AIDS
Day, we believe this particular lighted display is unique to our
community. We look forward to your participation.
The following week (December 2-6) there are several AIDS Awareness
programs scheduled, including "Living with HIV/AIDS--One Woman's
Perspective" on Tuesday, December 3, UI Women's Center 12:30 or UI
Administration Auditorium 6:30. The speaker, Julie, is HIV positive as
the result of a blood transfusion. She is the mother of three children,
wife of a Spokane-area minister, and has a brother living with AIDS.
On Thursday, December 5, there will be a memorial service at Friendship
Square at 5:30 p.m. Forty-four luminaries will encircle the fountain
representing each county in Idaho. We hope to see you at any or all of
these events.
Hope your Thanksgiving is wonderful,
Susan
