Yes, any donations made through the UI Foundation are considered donations to an
Idaho educational institution. (That's why I've always made my checks for
Northwest Public Radio out to "Idaho Public Radio.)
However, the tax credit is limited to 50% of donations, to a maximum credit of
$100 (as I recall from last year's tax form). So if you've already given to
Idaho Repertory Theatre, the Prichard Art Gallery, UI Library Associates or the
Lionel Hampton School of Music, you may not get any additional benefit from this
gift. (Perhaps someone from the UI Foundation could verify the maximum tax
credit and any conditions on it.)
Regardless of the tax benefit, it's a good cause, which I encourage Visionaries
to support with their checkbooks!
