Dear Visionaries,
I have accepted a 9-month teaching position at Colorado State University
in Ft. Collins and will be leaving MOscow two weeks from today on Aug. 19.
I will teach newswriting, reporting and history of the mass media in the
Department of Journalism and Technical Communication.
This is a temporary position to replace a faculty member who died suddenly
two weeks ago. There will be a national search later this year for a
permanent tenure-track position. Whether I apply for that will depend on
how much progress I have made on my dissertation and how well I like
Ft. Collins and CSU. In either case, I plan to return to Moscow in May
to continue work on my research at WSU over the summer.
I'm looking for someone interested in renting my house for the academic
year. Ideally, I'd like someone who might be gone at Christmas so I could
come back here for a few weeks in January. It's 2 bedrooms, suitable for
a single person, a couple or a couple with a small child; rent is $600
with a 9-month lease. If you know of anyone new to Moscow and looking
for a place to live, please ask them to call me at 883-3156.
I have temporary housing in Ft. Collins once I arrive but would welcome
any suggestions from people who have lived there before or leads for
possible apartments once I look for something more permanent.
I'm excited about this professional opportunity in Colorado, but I will
leave Moscow-Pullman with some sadness, not the least of which is my
involvement in a variety of worthy causes and worthwhile organizations.
I'll continue my subscription to the Vision 2020 listserver, and hope to
stay abreast of events here in my absence.
Fritz Knorr and Jeanne McHale have generously offered their solar-heated
swimming pool and deck for a Vision 2020 pool party, potluck and going-away
party, this Thursday, Aug. 8, starting at 6 p.m. Details will follow on
this list-server in the next day or so. Please come to discuss current
and future projects for 2020. (It's supposed to warm up to the 90s by
Thursday.)
After Aug. 26, my address will be:
