Paul Kimmell of Viola has resigned from the Latah Planning Commission, of
which he has been chair since its split from the zoning commission last
year. Paul was instrumental in the commission's decision to see a broad
spectrum of public opinion through informal town meetings on proposed changes
in rural residential zoning. He is quitting to spend more time with his
farm and family.

The County Commissioners are accepting applications from Latah County
residents interested in replacing him. The only requirement is that the
person have lived in the county for at least two years. Although there are
no designated seats for communities, there is an attempt to maintain some
geographical balance. Gerard Billington, the county planner, says ideally
the next commissioner would be someone from the east side of the county --
Troy, Deary, Bovill, Kendrick, Juliaetta. The west side, from Genesee to
Potlatch, is pretty well represented, he said.

If you know anyone who might be interested who meets those criteria,
encourage them to send a letter to the commissioners applying. For more
information, call Gerard at 882-8580. Suvia Judd is currently the only
member who lives in Moscow, though there are three others from "rural
Moscow." Suvia is happy to provide information on the commission's
current workload and projects... call her at 882-4785.
