1. A contest to identify and recognize visionaries in Moscow (as a way
of encouraging others to be forward looking). Categories might be for
private citizens, elected officials, businesses and non-profit groups.
Volunteers would be needed to recruit judges, ask businesses to donate
prizes and publicize the winners. Anyone interested in pursuing this?
2. Bicycle tours of new and proposed subdivisions on Moscow's edges.
Priscilla will organize. Watch this list-server for dates and details.
3. Population study: Portrait of the Palouse. Kenton and Priscilla will
refine the proposal, write a budget, seek funding and attend the regional
breakfast meeting of local officials on July 3 to seek support. Volunteers
needed to research various demographic and economic data.
Other possibilities not discussed:
4. Town meeting or focus groups with new managers of Palouse Mall. (They
responded positively to my letter suggesting they do a town meeting like
Eastside Marketplace owners did in '94.)
5. Noon-time series on past/present/future of downtown Moscow. (Debbie
Turpin from Moscow Downtown Association has suggested several downtown
business people who might help organize this series in conjunction with
2020.)
Anyone interested in any of these activities should contact me, Mark
Becker, or Bill London (after July 1).
