Gens raised some interesting questions in her message wondering about
a possible connection between the Business Park and the Whitworth Building.
I've had similar thoughts about the Davids' building (Xenon) at Third and
Main, which is reportedly for sale... wouldn't it make sense to use an
existing building to meet the community's need for office space in a central
location?
The Business Park seems to have momentum, however, and there are some
uses (light manufacturing, warehousing, etc.) that are probably more
suitable for the Troy Highway location than for downtown. But there may
be some possibilities for high tech/knowledge industry that could be
downtown.
There will be two opportunities later this month to discuss these ideas:
* April 24, the Moscow P&Z will hold a public hearing on a zone change for
the proposed business park site east of Tidyman's.
* April 25, the Friends of Whitworth will sponsor a town meeting at the
community center on ideas for adaptive reuse of the 1912 Moscow High School.
