According to Monday's Daily News, the Palouse Empire Mall plans to spend
$300,000 to $400,000 this summer on an exterior facelift.
Is there any way the University of Idaho and/or City Council could
persuade the mall management s to spend some of that money on improving
the parking lot and landscaping? Shouldn't a redevelopment of that
size be expected to comply with the new parking lot ordinance which
requires that acres of asphalt be broken up with curbs and trees?
And isn't this an opportunity to put in a bus shelter for the Palouse
Commuter (and designate appropriate parking nearby for park-and-riders,
who spend lots of money shopping at the mall after they get off the bus)?
Could we persuade the mall management to have a "town meeeting" like the
Bennetts did before they began redeveloping the Eastside Marketplace?
I'd welcome comments and suggestions from readers of these two lists.
