Since Bill Clinton is virtually unopposed for the presidential nomination,
there's not much of a contest. However, the state Democratic Central
Committee has received information that some conservative special-interest
groups might attend county caucuses in an attempt to choose delegates
favorable to their positions. So it's important for rank-and-file
Democrats to attend to be sure that doesn't happen.
Idaho doesn't have party registration, so anyone can declare him/herself
a Democrat at the beginning of the caucus. As I recall from '92, I
think there is a statement that participants must sign declaring themselves
to be Democrats.
