According to a GTE mailing I received Saturday, they have changed some
of their proposals from the original version announced in December. They
now propose an extra 85 cents per month to keep toll-gfree calling from
Moscow to Pullman (down from $1.60). And they will offer Pullman only
instead of lumping it with outlying communities (Genesee, Potlatch, etc.).
It's clear from the tone of this letter and the op-ed from the local GTE
manager in the wekend Daily News that the company is on the defensive. This
is no time for consumers to let up.
Does anyone know of any organized effort to coordinate testimony ahead of
time; i.e., to divide up different points amoung various speakers? Please
let me know if you're planning to attend and testify and perhaps we can
arrange a get-together before Wednesday.
