Architect to speak Jan. 23

Michael Riehm, an architect who specializes in pedestrian-oriented
community design, will speak at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, in the council
chamber of Moscow City Hall, 3rd & Washington. His presentation is
sponsored by the Moscow Historic Preservation Commission and Moscow Vision
2020.
Riehm is based in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. His focus is developing town
planning strategies that mitigate the impact of subsurban sprawl and
create livable communities.
The topic of his Jan. 23 presentation is "Managing Rural Growth: Making
Economics and Aesthetics Work Together." His discussion will be illustrated
by slides showing example of successful rural development throughout the U.S.
If you can't attend Jan. 23, there will be two opportunities to hear Riehm
on Jan. 24. AT noon, he will speak to the Moscow-Latah Economic Development
Council luncheon and at 7 p.m., he will speak to the Moscow P&Z.
