deflated

Yesterday, Al and I became the next in a series of victims of tire
deflation on Foothill Road near Moscow Mtn. In case you didn't know,
someone has been deflating the tires of people who park cars near the
Bennett gate and go up the road on Moscow Mtn. to walk or bike.

We parked carefully in a spot which did NOT have a "No Parking" sign. (I
frankly don't know if they can really enforce all those no parking signs
anyway since this is a public road). We walked on the road behind the
gate, being careful to stay off all private property. We bothered no one.
(Later, we checked with residents who owned the property where we parked
and they said they had no problem with our parking there).

However, someone with a real mean streak (most likely a resident of the
area) wants to keep everyone out of there. As far as I know, Bennett has
no problem with people walking or biking on the road, as long as they
stay on the road. (Correct me if I am wrong). The land on each side
of the road is marked with "no tresspassing" signs, but the road itself
is not.

I called the sheriff's office and supposedly they have a detective
working on this, but considering how often I hear this is happening, they
must not be working too hard.

A couple of the residents there were very kind and let us use their phone
and gave us needle-nosed pliers to tighten the valve stems. (I forgot to
mention that the vandal deflates your tires by loosening your valve
stems).

I'm telling you this story because I'm "deflated" by the nastiness of
this person and also because they are vandalizing and intimidating people
and getting away with it. Also to warn you to bring a pump and valve stem
tightners. What's to be done?
