I apologize for the discomfort I gave you by forwarding to the
MV2020 listserver the message you sent me listing
the designation of EDC Board appointments. I am
not exactly clear about the source of the discomfort. You described
your need for "courtesy." It is not my intention to be imprudent, uncivil,
contemptuous, curt, coarse, or impolite (the opposite of courteous).
I have too much respect for you and the EDC members for that.
It is my intention to make public information readily
available to facilitate public discussion of the issues at hand.
If, for example, you say something to me that I understand to be public
information, then I intend to treat it as such, including repeating it
in public. Public information does not make good private secrets, it
seems to me. Others will disagree and I accept that.
On the other hand, I will make mistakes. Please be patient with me. This is a
new role for me. I will listen to any and all concern that you have.
However, I am committed to open discussion of public business. If
you still perceive this as "discourteous," then I'll read Emily Post as
penance.
Sincerely,
Steve Cooke
