Mayor Kemmis' remarks should get us thinking about the concrete steps we
can take to move this region toward a more public form of discourse.

Toward this end, the "Working Toward a Sustainable Future" workshop in
Pullman on October 9 will be a great follow-up to Kemmis and the Tale of
Two Cities program.

Alan AtKisson will specifically address techniques for bringing together
diverse groups in order to address issues of growth, etc. The workshop
should be a great opportunity for concerned citizens to find out how we can
begin the process of building a "republic," as Kemmis refers to community,
that will facilitate healthy, public discussions of the future of this
region, such as Vision 20/20 is attempting to do.

So don't forget the workshop-October 9, 6:30 pm registration at the Holiday
Inn Express in Pullman. You can call PCEI for more info and to register.
