Moscow Vision 2020 will sponsor a public showing of a video documentary,
"Subdividing the West: Implications of Population Growth," followed by
a discussion of possible 2020 activities for the next six months:

Thursday, May 18 - foyer of the Moscow High School auditorium (3rd St.
entrance). Video at 6:30, meeting at 7:30 p.m.

The 49-minute video was produced by Colorado State University and looks
at population growth in rural areas throughout the west.

The meeting will be a chance to discuss possibile activities and set
priorities. Volunteers are invited to coordinate and organize these
activities. Among those suggested so far:

* A column on planning and growth issues for local newspapers.
* Work with the Latah County P&Z to design a public information process
to study new models for rural-residential development.
* A "Celebrate Moscow Week," possibly to include walking and bicycle tours.
* A series of videos on urban and rural planning topics, followed by public
discussions.
* A children's art contest.
* Additional workshops on the philosophy and practice of community-based
planning.

If you have additional suggestions, please send them to me at kbird@wsu.edu.

There is no admission charge; however, a $2 donation to cover copying and
mailing costs is suggested. Participants are asked to bring a snack, dessert
or non-alcoholic beverage to share. (Chips don't count, Fritz.)

Advance reservations aren't necessary, but if you're planning to come, try
to let me know by April 16 so we know how many copies of materials to make.

Thanks,
KENTON
