Dear visionaries,
Thanks goes to Fritz Knorr for attending the meeting called by Kris Seis
in regards to the desision made by the administarative council of the
city council.
Fritz took time to explain how descible levels are measured, the problems
with the way the readings in the park, and several other facts about dbu's
After Fritz spoke, Kris Seis then opened the floor for discussion by
having everyone present introduce themselves and the reason for which
they were concerned about the admin. desision.
Mark Moorer and Mrs. Munetta were there to represent Rendezvous in the park,
Ed Clark and Ellyn Kerr, representing the Rein. Fair. Scott Kimball,
representing Hemp fest and several concerned citizens from the community.
We discussed trying to come up with a common concern which to present to
the council.
Ideas for solutions and compromise where discussed. simple dbu readings
where done just to see how sound is affected by different situations,
i.e. walls, people, carpet, etc..... All measurements were taken inside,
so they weren't conclusive in anyway yet it did give those present some
sort of understanding as to how sound waves can be affected by surroundings.
Kris later expressed concern about the lack of young people in attendance.
He tried very hard to use interactive communication to get some of our
youth to be present. He doesn't know if there lack of attendance was
because the young people in or community don't feel that they have a
voice or if it just won't matter one way or the other.
We are trying to plan another meeting in the near future and would really
like to hear what the local youth have to say about this matter.
I will keep updating vision20/20 via e-mail, and if those of you who have
or know the local youth's please encourage them to get involved. Because
Kris as well as myself feel that we can make a difference in this
particular matter and we can get the young people involved and they see
that they can indeed make a difference and that they do have a voice,
that maybe they will make the effort to involve themselves in the
community rather than against it.
