1. Whitman County Planning Commission meets tonight at 7 p.m., Public Service B
uilding, Colfax, to consider amendments to the Pullman-Moscow Coorridor zone, i
ncluding prohibition of billboards. Propery owners have protested the Commissi
on's attempt to regulate what can be done in this heavily traveled 8-mile stret
ch of highway, so it would be good for a few people who attend who can talk abo
ut the bigger issues. Do we have any 2020 subscribers in Whitman County who
might attend? Or any Moscow folks who commute to WSU and must travel past the
rock pits, billboards and industrial storage yards daily?

2. Moscow School District and UI College of Education, town meeting on Goals 20
00, 6:30 p.m. this evening, UI College of Law, Room 103. Topic is "mobilizing
Communities to Improve Schools." (This is part of a videoconfrence series).

BTW, the Moscow Schools are considering eliminating Consensus 2000, a citizens
planning group formed several years ago and replacing it with a new "district a
dvisory committee." I am concerned that Consensus 2000's good work not be lost
and that it should be revitalized rather than scrapped. Anyone with similar c
oncerns should contact Superintendent Jack Hill or Curriculum Director Susan Se
aman at 882-1120.
